Volunteer with WPSR

Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility is primarily a volunteer-based organization. Our issue-area volunteer task forces, composed of healthcare professionals and other community members, take the lead in setting WPSR's strategic priorities. WPSR mobilizes task force members and our wider community of volunteer advocates in myriad ways that support our efforts to educate the public, influence decision-makers, and pass policies that protect all from the gravest threats to health.

JOIN A WPSR TASK FORCE

If you have the time and energy, consider volunteering for one of our issue-area task forces. These slides provide answers to commonly asked questions, but reach out to us if you have any others or want to discuss task force membership.

SUPPORT OUR CALLS TO ACTION

We need people who are ready to respond to our calls to action: signing petitions, amplifying key messages through social media and other networks, calling or writing to Members of Congress, and joining constituent meetings with legislators. To volunteer, simply sign up for emails for the WPSR programs that interest you, and you will receive requests to engage in and support our advocacy.

BE A HEALTH ADVOCACY MENTOR

WPSR’s Advocacy Mentorship Program is an opportunity for aspiring advocates to engage with experienced health activists to learn how to have an impact on public policy and public health through the use of your trusted and credible health voice. We are looking for healthcare professionals with advocacy experience, available to meet monthly with at least one mentee to share your expertise and passion with early-career healthcare professionals and others new to advocacy. Sign up to volunteer here!

BE A PROJECT VOLUNTEER

If you have a special skill, area of knowledge, or expertise in one of our program areas, and an interest in project-based volunteering, please contact us to discuss opportunities!

There are so many ways to get involved, and all are welcome as WPSR members and volunteers!
